Makiki traffic stop leads to 2 arrests

An early morning traffic stop in Makiki yesterday led to the arrest of two men for multiple felony offenses, police said.
The men were in a car that police pulled over for a traffic violation at South Beretania and Pi'ikoi streets at 4:20 a.m. After discovering the car was stolen, police found drugs and stolen identity information inside the vehicle.
The driver, 37, has no permanent local address and 25 convictions, according to Hawai'i Criminal Justice Data Center records. He was arrested for auto theft, possession of a deadly weapon and drug paraphernalia, third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug, and three counts of unauthorized possession of confidential information.
A 31-year-old Punchbowl resident was arrested for two drug-related offenses and unauthorized entry for being a passenger in the stolen car.
