Granger Larsen of Lahaina, Maui, swept the explorer juniors, explorer men and open men contests to take top honors at the National Scholastic Surfing Association's Hawai'i Regional Championships that ended Wednesday at Kewalo Basin.

Larsen, 17, was given the Heavywater Man award.

"We've had surfers win two divisions but I've never seen such a dominating performance by one surfer in taking three titles," said NSSA Hawai'i Conference director Bobbi Lee. "This is a first for the (Hawai'i) regionals."

A total of 150 surfers entered the regional championships.

The next stop for the qualifying surfers is the national championship, June 26 to 30 at Lowers Trestles in San Clemente, Calif. It is considered the premier amateur surfing event in the United States.
