Lunalilo Home, Hawai'i's oldest adult residential care home, has received a $24,999 grant from the Office of Hawaiian Affairs to make repairs to its Hawai'i Kai facility.
The care home, which just celebrated its 124th year, is located on five acres on the slopes of Koko Head Crater, next to Kaiser High School.
The home closed from 1998 to 2001 while undergoing a $4.5 million renovation. The care facility can accommodate 42 residents of Hawaiian ancestry in private and shared rooms.
The home was the idea of William Charles Lunalilo, Hawai'i's sixth king but the first one to be elected to the throne.
