Join us as we take a tour on the PGA Tour with Parker McLachlin, a former Punahou athlete. McLachlin earned his PGA Tour card for this season. He joins Castle alum Dean Wilson as the only Hawai'i golfers on the PGA Tour. McLachlin, Waikoloa's touring pro, will write his impressions on events that he's just completed as the tour comes to a close.

This is the last week of the PGA Tour season and it's been an incredible year with lots of travel, lots of new courses, lots of new cities, lots of new fans, and lots of new friends. Next week, I'll go over my "Things I'll Never Forget" postcard, but today I'm excited about writing from Orlando and the Children's Miracle Network Classic.

After a really solid tournament last week (tied for 12th) I realized that I'm never going to be a rookie out here on the PGA Tour again. You take your hits out here, and not everything is going to come up rosy. But the next time I go out and play those courses, the learning curve won't nearly be as steep. That's what is so exciting about being able to finish my first full season on the PGA Tour.

Last week's tournament was really wet and rainy. It was much like playing in Hawai'i. I think we had five different rain delays over a four-day period, and that really makes things more challenging. Yet I found that last week was probably my best ball-striking week on Tour.

When I'm striking the ball very well, you know you are going to have a really good week because I've always felt confident on the greens. With a few more breaks here and there, I'm confident that I could have been at the top of the leaderboard last Sunday. In the end, though, last week's tournament was a good marker for me to analyze my game. I scored well without any crazy chip-ins, or any holes-in-one. It was just a solid week of golf.

I feel like I've got some great momentum heading into the last tournament. I'm sitting 136th on the money list and I need to be in the Top 125 to regain full status for next season. I think that I need a Top 5, but I know that I can win. If I was sitting at 126, or 127 on the list, I'd be worrying about what everyone else is doing. Instead, I know what I need to do and that has kept me a little bit more at ease. Everything is in my hands, and as a competitor that's all you can ask for.

I took a look at the pairings just a few minutes ago, and I noticed I'm playing with Tadd Fujikawa on Thursday and Friday. It's really nice to get to play with Tadd. I'm guessing it wasn't too random that they paired the only two Hawai'i guys out here, and I'm hoping that we can both pull together some great rounds on Thursday and Friday and make it quite a weekend.
