'Seen it all'
| Lore of the rings |
"My classic plain gold wedding band has been on my finger for 43 years," wrote Fay Jones.
Her grandfather first bought it in 1910 for her grandmother, who wore it for 44 years, until she died in a car accident.
"I was 16 at the time and mourned deeply for her," wrote Jones. "I was given the ring as a keepsake, and it brought me a measure of peace and comfort to have something that was so much part of her. So the ring has seen it all — birth, death, love, laughter, joy and sorrow. I like to think that perhaps my infant granddaughter will choose to wear it when it is passed on to her."
