Weed & Seed backers will hold fundraiser

Supporters of the 'Ewa Weed & Seed Initiative will hold a day-long fundraiser tomorrow at the Ewa Beach Shopping Center parking lot fronting Fort Weaver Road near McDonald's.
Entertainment will be provided from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. by a number of musical acts, including Kona and Annette Alcos Oasay. The event will also feature speakers, including U.S. Attorney Ed Kubo and Lt. Gov. James "Duke" Aiona.
Community leaders will be "locked up" and asking for donations to "set them free."
Supporters hope to raise $75,000 through the event and personal donations in order to save the Weed & Seed initiative, a partnership of law enforcement, businesses and the community aimed at fighting drug activity in the area.
Donations can be sent care of and payable to: 'Ewa Beach Lions Club (Save Our Site), P.O. Box 2044, 'Ewa Beach, HI 96706. Donations can be sent anytime and will continue to be accepted through next year.
