UH EXHIBIT: SAMOAN ARTIST'S WORK ON DISPLAY

Award-winning artist Fatu Feu'u, considered the elder statesman of Pacific Island art in New Zealand, is in Honolulu this month to exhibit his work, lecture and mix with students at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa.

Feu'u is artist in residence through Oct. 31 at the university. His work is now on exhibit at the Art Building Commons Gallery, and will be on view through Friday.

Born in Western Samoa in 1946 and an immigrant to New Zealand in 1966, the theme of migration is common in Feu'u's work, as are images of frigate birds, canoes, masks and frangipani flowers.
