TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE
"Hannah Montana," 8 p.m.; "Wizards of Waverly Place," 8:30 p.m.; "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" (2002), 9 p.m.; all Disney Channel. This is how Disney controls viewers on Fridays: It has cute teens, music, silly sight gags and then a strong family film. "Hannah" has a visit by the Jonas Brothers. They sing with Miley and write with her dad. "Wizards" has pure silliness. After Alex cheats at school by using a "pocket elf," her brothers strike. On her dream date, they use an elf to make her obsess over chocolate. The result has lots of big, smeary, chocolaty scenes, the sort kids will love and parents will abandon. The family can reunite, however, for this "Harry Potter" film. It includes a great supporting bit by Kenneth Branagh.
"The Godfather" (1972), 5 p.m., A&E. Every movie this week doesn't have to aim at Halloween. Here's the Oscar-winning Mob classic, beautifully directed by Francis Coppola.
OF NOTE
"The Next Great American Band," 7 p.m., Fox. After last week's auditions, 12 wide-ranging bands remain.
"Ghost Whisperer," 7 p.m., CBS. Ever wonder why Melinda gets so many contacts from beyond the grave? Tonight, Gabriel shows her there's a creepy world under the city.
"Women's Murder Club," 8 p.m., ABC. Jill takes a chance on a teen girl. Meanwhile, Lindsay considers dating again. Claire, the medical examiner, tries to spice up her marriage.
"Friday Night Lights," 8 p.m., NBC. Last week, Riggins and Street left for Mexico in search of experimental surgery for Street. Also, Coach Taylor agreed to meet with people who want to overthrow the current coach. Tonight, there are fresh developments in both — and in the case of Tyra's attacker.
"Las Vegas," 9 p.m., NBC. There's a "Magnum, P.I." reunion of sorts when Roger Mosley and Larry Manetti play the wealthy poker pals of Cooper (Tom Selleck).
"Men in Trees," 9 p.m., ABC. Marin is the last one to learn that Jack and Lynn have split. Also, Patrick is overwhelmed by wedding plans.
