Organizers of the North Shore Festival have canceled the event because of a money shortfall.

Billed as the kick-off to the big-wave winter surf season, the festival brought hundreds of people together for movie and entertainment in a fair-like atmosphere.

It was scheduled for Nov. 10 to 11 at Hale'iwa Beach Park.

"Despite an all-time high in vendor applications and entertainment interest, a shortfall of sponsorship dollars prevented the event from moving forward," said the cancellation notice.
