Bank of Hawaii Corp. said Vice Chairman and Chief Banking Officer Peter Ho will head the company's retail banking unit.

The company also promoted Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Fiduciary Officer Shelley Thompson to vice chairman responsible for the bank's investment services division.

"These appointments and promotions recognize the experience and accomplishments of our senior leaders," said Al Landon, Bank of Hawaii's chairman and chief executive officer.

Ho, 42, is a member of the bank's board of directors and sits on its 14-member managing committee. In addition to his new duties, he will continue to oversee Bank of Hawaii's commercial banking and investment services units.

He will assume responsibilities previously held by bank Vice Chairman Dave Thomas, who expects to leave the company in the near future.

Ho, who joined the bank in 1993 after beginning his career in New York, is the son of local businessman Stuart Ho and the grandson of famed deal-maker Chinn Ho.

Thompson, 58, who reports to Ho, is also a member of the bank's managing committee.

Prior to joining Bank of Hawaii in 2005, Thompson served as executive vice president and director of wealth management at City National Bank in Beverly Hills, Calif., and held senior executive positions with U.S. Trust Co., U.S. Bancorp. and Wells Fargo Bank.

The bank also named two new senior executive vice presidents:

Executive Vice President Kathy Fujihara-Chong, 55, has been named senior executive vice president and manager of the company's business banking division.

Executive Vice President Thomas Koide, 55, was promoted to senior vice president and manager of the company's Hawai'i branch division.

Fujihara-Chong and Koide also were named to the bank's managing committee.
