City to Activate Left-Turn Signal in Hawaii Kai

Reader Submitted

Mayor Mufi Hannemann and City officials will activate tomorrow a left-turn signal to enable motorists heading makai on Keahole Street to turn into the Hawaii Kai Shopping Center. This enhancement of the existing traffic signal will make it safer and easier for motorists by providing a green left-turn arrow for this movement. The left-turn signal will be activated Thursday, April 10, at 10:00 a.m. Mayor Hannemann said, "This is a safety priority of Hawaii Kai residents, given the number of near-misses involving motorists and pedestrians on this heavily traveled stretch of road. We're pleased that the City was able to provide this improvement." The cost of the project was $50,000. Work included cabling, a conduit, poles, and pedestrian push buttons.
