A Kahalu'u woman was arrested today on suspicion of forging 62 checks and stealing more than $25,000 from an elderly Kane'ohe couple.

The woman, 43, worked as a housecleaner and allegedly cashed forged checks belonging to her employers from November 2006 through December 2007, said police Detective John McCarthy.

The woman was arrested today at a homee near Kane'ohe Yacht Club at 9 a.m. and booked on 62 counts of second-degree forgery, first-degree theft and second-degree identity theft. She was later released pending further investigation for likely indictment at a later date.

On Jan. 9, the same woman was arrested on suspicion of unauthorized possession of confidential personal information, second-degree forgery and fourth-degree theft. According to state Criminal Justice Data Center records, she has one prior conviction.
