High surf expected tonight on Hawaii's south shores

The National Weather Service today issued a high-surf advisory for south-facing shores of all islands through 6 a.m. Saturday.
NWS forecaster Chris Brenchley said the unseasonal waves in the 6- to 10-foot range on the south shores are the byproduct of a strong storm system near New Zealand. "It's a taste of summer in the spring," Brenchley said.
Brenchley expects surf size to start peaking overnight.
