Marine Corps Base-Hawaii received a report of a possible snake sighting on base at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to a news release.

A base resident described a greenish-brown snake approximately 2 feet in length. Marine Corps Base-Hawaii officials contacted the State Department of Agriculture Snake Interdiction Group after receiving the report.

Base personnel searched the area and the Agriculture Department sent personnel who searched Wednesday afternoon.

Later, a search Wednesday evening utilized a team of 18 trained brown tree snake-detection personnel from state and federal agencies, according to the release.

No snakes were detected in any of the searches and traps were set Wednesday night and Thursday.
