Pearl City seniors will play for regional title

Sheldon Milan and Kahana Neal teamed on a four-hitter as Pearl City edged Southern California, 1-0, yesterday to advance to the title game of the Little League Seniors (ages 14-16) Western Regional at Upland, Calif.
Jordan Oshiro led off the bottom of the first with Pearl City's only hit of game, and eventually scored on a passed ball.
Pearl City (3-0) will play today at 5 p.m. Hawai'i time against the winner of today's opener between Southern California and Arizona.
LITTLE LEAGUE
HILO STAYS PERFECT
Hilo completed a perfect run through pool play yesterday by beating Santa Clara, Utah, 13-8, in the Little League Juniors (ages 13-14) Western Regional at Aliso Viejo, Calif.
Quintan Torres-Costa batted 4 for 4 with two doubles and three RBIs, and Koa Matson belted a three-run homer for Hilo, which finished 4-0 in pool play.
Torres-Costa pitched five innings of relief to earn the win.
Hilo will play the loser of today's Southern California-Northern California (both are 3-0 in Pool B) in the semifinals tomorrow at 1 p.m. Hawai'i time.
BABE RUTH
EAST O'AHU OUSTED
Torrance (Calif.) defeated East O'ahu, 10-3, yesterday to capture the Babe Ruth (ages 13-15) Pacific Southwest Regional at El Segundo, Calif.
Kaeo Aliviado, Kale Kaalekahi and Sumi Pruett were named to the all-tournament team for East O'ahu (3-2), which took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first only to see Torrance (4-0) rally for the title-clincher.
Torrance earned a berth in the Babe Ruth World Series.
HAWAI'I WINS HANDILY
Hawai'i scored in every inning, including an 11-run third, in a 24-0 rout of Hunter-Cypress, Utah, yesterday in the Babe Ruth (ages 13) Pacific Southwest Regional at Richfield, Utah.
Tanner Nishioka and Kody Mento each scored three runs and drove in three for Hawai'i (1-1). David Torigoe and Drew Ichikawa combined on a three-hitter with seven strikeouts.
Hawai'i's next game is tomorrow at 10 a.m. Hawaii Time. If it wins, it'll play again at 3 p.m.
Hawai'i lost its opener Thursday to Northwest Bakersfield, Calif., 5-4.

MILILANI ROLLS ON
Lawrance Paas and Jake Baptista each had three hits and teamed on a four-hitter as Mililani defeated Bellingham (Wash.), 14-4, yesterday at the P.O.N.Y. Pony (ages 13-14) West Zone Tournament in Fullerton, Calif.
Soobin Kang and Micah Kitaoka each had two hits for Mililani (1-0), which plays Victoria (Calif.) today at 11:30 a.m. Hawai'i time.
MILILANI IN TITLE GAME
JC DeJesus squeezed home Rayson Romero in the bottom of the ninth as Mililani beat Hart, Calif., 7-6, yesterday to advance to the championship game of the P.O.N.Y. Bronco (ages 11-12) West Zone Tournament at Valencia, Calif.
Jimmy Madrid pitched the final four innings in relief, allowing no runs while striking out five.
Mililani (3-0) will play at 3 p.m. Hawai'i time today against an opponent to be determined.
CAL RIPKEN
KAMIKAZE ADVANCE
Geoffrey Moore had three hits and teamed with Royce Tashiro on a four-inning no-hitter as the O'ahu Kamikaze crushed Arizona, 11-0, yesterday at the Cal Ripken (ages 9-under) Western Regional in Panguitch, Utah.
Korrey Siracusa had two hits and two RBIs, Blaine DeMello added two hits and Matt Dunaway hit a three-run triple for the Kamikaze (3-1), who advance to play Central Arizona tomorrow in the single-elimination portion of the tournament.
