Moderate earthquake rattles area of the Philippines

A moderate earthquake rumbled through an area of the Philippines about 12:25 a.m. Hawaii time.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage resulting from the 5.9 magnitude quake which occurred about 40 miles east-southeast Legaspi on the island of Luzon, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The USGS said the quake was centered about 6.2 miles below the earth's surface.
