DJ Roxycottontail is pretty much kama'aina already.
The New York City-based DJ has been to Honolulu enough times to be welcomed back as a nightlife staple instead of a guest performer. (She said she even craves Spam musubi when she's not here.)
Roxy returns Aug. 30 for a gig at thirtyninehotel with one of Honolulu's newest additions to the DJ scene, The Hot Muffins, a dynamic duo of girl-on-steel power that has a reputation for getting a party started. The ladies — Roxy and muffins DJ Lacy and DJ Echo Aoki — will be joined by Nocturnal Sound Krew for the party that will double as a fundraiser and food drive for IHS and the Hawaii Foodbank.
Roxy, who has collaborated with MIA, Diplo, Low Budget, A-Track and Kid Cudi, among others, is also an urban fashion icon and event promoter.
Along with the stamina to party all night, partiers are encouraged to bring canned goods for the food drive. The cover charge for the event is $12, or $7 with a donation of canned food. All proceeds will be donated to charity. Admission is for those 21 and older.
