Fire department recruits graduate from training
The Maui Department of Fire and Public Safety announced the graduation of its 26th recruit class, whose members underwent 22 weeks of training.
Michael Howe received the award for Most Outstanding Recruit; Nicholas Simon was honored for academic achievement; Keahi Ho was given the award for Outstanding Functional Skills; and Shawn Kiesel was the recipient of the Ho'oulu Award, which honors late Maui Fire Capt. Charlie Iwata and was presented by Iwata's son, Nainoa.
Other graduates are Nohea Williams, Kamuela Guth, Tyson Santiago, Judd McCandless, Cody Cordeiro, Patrick Blackburn, Navayo Caiserman, Dana Anderson and David Kamalani.
