Eric Honma, director of Kaua'i County's Department of Liquor Control, was elected president of the National Conference of State Liquor Administrators last month.
Honma's selection was announced at the NCSLA's 74th annual conference held in Chicago.
"We are very proud of Eric being recognized for his diligent and dedicated work in advancing the mission of the NCSLA," said Pauline Ventura, chair of the Kaua'i County Liquor Commission. "I think it's also a reflection of the high standard and quality of work performed by Eric and his staff."
Honma has previously served as NCLA's first vice-president, second vice-president and chairman of the western region.
As head of the Liquor Control Department, Honma oversees a seven-member staff and provides administrative support to the Liquor Commission.
