HILO, Hawai'i — Every Big Island resident will be able to obtain a free prescription drug discount card starting Monday.
The card will enable them to save 20 percent on prescription medicines.
It can be used any time a prescription is not covered by insurance.Big Island Councilman Bob Jacobson says the service is offered through a contractual arrangement between the National Association of Counties and Caremark Rx Inc.
The cards will be available at the county clerk's office, the mayor's office and all other county offices. They will be accepted by nearly all the island's pharmacies. O'ahu, Kaua'i and Maui already offer the card to their residents.
