Australia's Stephanie Gilmore won the Roxy Pro women's contest today and clinched the 2008 world championship in the process.
The final day of the contest was run in wave-face heights of 4 to 8 feet at Sunset Beach.
Gilmore trailed for most of the final heat, but received a score of 8.5 (out of 10) on her last wave with about four minutes remaining.
She finished with a two-wave score of 15.83 to edge Brazil's Silvana Lima's score of 14.16.
Gilmore also won the world title last year.
The Roxy Pro is the seventh of eight events on the 2008 world tour, but Gilmore already has enough points to clinch the championship.
Megan Abubo of Waialua was eliminated in the semifinals.
