Free Toys for Tots concert Dec. 10 at Blaisdell

"Na Mele o Na Keiki (Music for the Children)," a free holiday concert at 7 p.m. Dec. 10 at Blaisdell Concert Hall, will unite a military band with Island entertainers to support the annual Toys for Tots Hawai'i campaign here.
U.S. Marine Corps Forces Pacific and BAE Systems, a worldwide partner of the USO, will stage the event.
The MARFORPAC Band will be featured, along with an array of guest artists, including Danny Kaleikini, Hawai'i's ambassador of aloha; Carole Kai, veteran singer and philanthropist; Anita Hall, singer and actress; Jasmine Trias, Hawai'i's "American Idol" finalist; Jake Shimabukuro, the 'ukulele wizard; the Honolulu Boy Choir, the world-renowned youth choir; and Chris Vandercook, the jazz-blues guitarist.
Though there is no admission, tickets will be required for entry; they are available at the Blaisdell box office, with a four-ticket limit per person.
Those attending are encourage to bring new toys or offer donations at the door; Reserve Marines from the 4th Force Reconnaissance Company, based at Marine Corps Base Hawai'i, will be on hand to accept the gifts in support of the Marine Corps' annual Toys for Tots program.
In the last 12 years, the Hawai'i Toys for Tots program has collected nearly 600,000 toys and nearly $340,000 to purchase toys to brighten the holidays for more than 370,000 children here.
The Salvation Army again will distribute the toys.
