Advertiser Staff

The National Weather Service has issued high surf warnings across the state today, with the north-facing shores of Niihau, Kauai and Oahu expected to see surf of 20 to 25 feet with some locally higher sets of up to 30 feet.

West-facing shores of those islands will likely see surf in the 10- to 20-foot range, forecasters said.

The north-facing shores of Maui and north- and west-facing shores of Molokai will see surf of 18 to 25 feet today, the Weather Service said, while the Kohala and Kona coastlines of the Big Island may see surf with wave faces of 8 to 12 feet this morning, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

The high surf warnings are expected to remain in place until 6 a.m. Saturday.

Elsewhere on Oahu today, the surf is expected to be 1 to 3 feet along east-facing shores and 2 feet or less along south-facing shores.
