CFB: Nevada to face Maryland in Humanitarian Bowl

Associated Press

BOISE, Idaho — The Roady's Humanitarian Bowl let hometown Boise State go free today and instead will have Nevada play Maryland in the Dec. 30 bowl game on the blue turf.

The undefeated Broncos, ranked No. 9 this week, were hoping the bowl game played in their stadium would not select them leaving open the possibility of Boise State playing No. 11 TCU in the Poinsettia Bowl in San Diego. There was talk of Boise State and Ball State playing in Boise but those conversations fizzled in the last week.

Both Maryland and Nevada finished their seasons at 7-5. The Terrapins were ranked at one point, but lost three of their last four to close the regular season.

This will be the first meeting between the two teams and Nevada's second trip to the Humanitarian Bowl. They lost to Miami 21-20 in 2006.
