CFB: UCF player improving after collapse, dad says

ORLANDO, Fla. — A Central Florida football player who collapsed during training last week is improving and could be released from the hospital as early as Tuesday, his father said Monday night.
Brandon Davis became dehydrated while participating in a routine weightlifting session Wednesday and was taken to Florida Hospital East. His kidneys failed and he had tests on his liver and heart, his father, Adrian Davis said.
"He's doing much better," Adrian Davis said Monday. "His kidneys are back to normal and we're awaiting test results on his liver enzymes."
UCF's athletic department said in a statement Sunday that the training was "a rigorous out-of-season workout" that was "not atypical" for a college football conditioning session.
The school's training methods have been scrutinized since wide receiver Ereck Plancher collapsed and died during a conditioning workout last spring.
Davis was in the running back rotation during UCF's 4-8 season.
