NFL: Lions release CB Brian Kelly
Associated Press
DETROIT — The Detroit Lions released Brian Kelly on Tuesday, after the veteran cornerback had complained recently about his lack of playing time.
The 32-year-old Kelly suited up Sunday against Minnesota but did not play. He also did not play in Week 5 against Chicago.
Kelly spent 10 seasons with Tampa Bay before becoming a free agent and signing a three-year deal with the Lions in March. Detroit coach Rod Marinelli was a defensive line coach for the Buccaneers from 1996 to 2005.
Kelly started 11 games this season, making 26 tackles and no interceptions.
