Swimming: Russians men's 4x50m relay team sets world record

RIJEKA, Croatia — Russia's men's relay 4 x 50 meters medley team has set a new world record in qualifying at the European short-course swimming championships.
The Russian team set a new record of 1 minute 33.77 seconds on Thursday.
The Italian team had earlier broken the previous world record of 1:34.06, set by a German team in Helsinki in 2006, finishing in 1:34.01 in the first heat.
But only minutes later, in the second heat, the Russian team of Stanislav Donetc, Sergej Geiybel, Nikolay Skvortsov and Sergej Fesikov set the new mark.
