Seven escape uninjured from Kailua home fire

Four adults and three children escaped uninjured from a fire tonight that caused major damage to their Kailua home.
The fire at 235 Kihapai St., reported at 8:58 p.m., was declared under control at 9:15 p.m. Damages to structure and content is estimated at $250,000, said Honolulu Fire Department Capt. Terry Seelig.
The fire started in a bedroom in the rear of the structure but the cause is under investigation, Seelig said.
The Hawai'i Chapter of the American Red Cross was at scene to offer assistance to the victims.
