Three people were found conscious following the crash today of a Piper Cherokee aircraft, Fire Department and FAA officials said.

The plane crashed near Kalaeloa, the former Barbers Point.

The FAA said the plane is a Piper Cherokee and had three people on board. The Fire Department radio scanner said the three occupants were all found conscious.

City emergency services technicians used two ambulances to take three people to a local area trauma center.

A woman in her 40s is in critical condition.

A man, 59, is in stable condition, and a second woman, in her 20s, is in serious condition.

The FAA said the plane was flying practice routes around Kalaeloa and lost power on departure. The plane crashed outside the airport boundary.

The plane knocked out electricity and phone lines at the Kalaeloa Airport, the state Department of Transportation said.

Based on the tail number of the plane, records show it belongs to Offshore Flight School Inc., a Honolulu company that gives flight lessons to Japanese tourists.

A search of public records reveals no complaints or issues with the plane during the last 180 days.
