CFB: New Mexico State has coaching search down to 3 finalists

LAS CRUCES, N.M. — The list of candidates to fill New Mexico State's football coaching position is down to three finalists after athletics director McKinley Boston interviewed seven candidates last weekend.
"All the interviews were very good," said Boston, who declined to disclose names. "Somewhere within the next week we will have a recommendation to the president."
Boston said the interview process is over "unless all three reject me."
"Just because we're down to three doesn't mean any of them are still into us," he said. "We feel good after the interviews but we don't know how they feel. That's something we'll find out."
The Aggies fired Hal Mumme, who was 11-38 in four seasons, on Dec. 2. New Mexico State went 3-9 last fall, including a 1-7 mark in the Western Athletic Conference that included a seven-game losing streak.
