Clinical laboratory workers in Hawai'i may now renew their state licenses online, the state Department of Health announced.

Clinical lab professionals may also update their profiles and pay license fees online.

The Web site is http://hawaii.gov/health/laboratories/laboratories/licensing/index.html.

The department's State Laboratories Division processes more than 1,200 renewals every two years, in addition to nearly 100 new applications annually. The division encourages clinical laboratory directors, cytotechnologists, medical technologists, medical laboratory technicians and specialists to renew their licenses online.

"We've had a tremendous response to our online renewal service," said Laboratories Division chief Dr. Chris Whelen. "Since the launch on Monday, Dec. 15, 91 percent of the individuals who visited the payment page paid online."
