Hawaiian Electric Co. officials plans to provide a media briefing on last Friday's islandwide blackout next week.
Company spokeswoman Lynne Unemori said the company plans to share preliminary data on the Dec. 26 outage, which left much of the 294,000 customers without electricity for more than 12 hours. HECO has yet to set an exact date and time for the briefing.
Unemori said the company is looking at lightning as a potential cause for the blackout, which occurred after four major transmission lines went down that night.
