WAIKIKI
Shoreline fishing banned for all of coming year
The state will close the Waikiki-Diamond Head shoreline to fishing for a year starting New Year's Day.
The fishing ban encompasses the nearshore waters from the Waikiki War Memorial Natatorium to the Diamond Head Lighthouse, and from the high-water mark on shore to a minimum seaward distance of 500 yards.
The area is closed to fishing in odd-numbered years.
Meanwhile, fishing is also not allowed at any time in the adjoining Waikiki Marine Life Conservation District from the natatorium to the Kapahulu groin seawall.
