Vintage car auction here Feb. 8-9

As many as 200 vintage cars will be auctioned off Feb. 8 and 9 at the Kruse Hawaii Collector Car Auction an show Feb. 8 and 9 at the Hawai'i Convention Center Exhibit Hall.
Among the cars being sold are a 1951 Kaiser, a 1926 Ford hot rod, a 1953 Buick Super 8 convertible, a 1956 two-door Plymouth Belvedere, a 1951 Austin and a 1931 Ford roadster. All cars can be viewed at www.kruse.com.
Robert Smith, a private sports car collector and one of the organizers, said it is the first collector car auction in the state.
"This is an idea I had a year or so ago after retirement. It just seemed to me that there were far and away more nice collecti- ble cars and motorcycles for sale in Hawai'i than buyers to pay a fair market for them," Smith said.
Kruse International, based in Auburn, Ind., is one of the world's leading auction firms and the largest collector car auction company. Local sponsors of the event include the JN Automotive Group, Pasha-Hawaii Transpacific Shipping, Young Brothers, and Reyn Spooner.
A charity auction of auto memorabilia will be held Feb. 7 with proceeds going to the USO of Hawaii.
