SUNDAY'S MUST-SEE

Super Bowl, 1 p.m., Fox. After endless previews, things move onto the field. Plans call for quick, pre-game music by Alicia Keys, plus a duet by Willie Nelson and Sara Evans. Jordin Sparks, the "American Idol" champion, sings the National Anthem; kickoff is estimated at 1:18 or 1:25 p.m. Hawai'i time. It's the New York Giants and the undefeated New England Patriots, with Joe Buck and Troy Aikman in the broadcast booth. Tom Petty performs at halftime.

OF LOCAL NOTE

"Strength through Peace," 10 a.m. 'Olelo Channel 54. A presentation series featuring U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio, begins with his Sept. 15, 2007, "Strength through Peace" address given at Kaimuki High School. Kucinich discusses diplomacy and statesmanship as the path to strong international leadership. He also talks about peace and his plan for withdrawal from Iraq. Also appearing are Hawai'i Democratic Party chair Mike McCartney; local storyteller, Jeff Gere; songwriter and singer, Keith and Carmen Haugen; and dancer, Adela Chu. The hourlong presentation will be aired again at 10 a.m. Feb. 17 on Channel 54.

OF NOTE

"Masterpiece: Miss Austen Regrets," 8 p.m., PBS has done a fine job with its other Jane Austen films, but this one is so-so. It views the author's life darkly, with her spinsterhood as deep tragedy. Olivia Williams and Imogen Poots are excellent as Austen and her niece. They semi-rescue a dark, one-note tale.

"The Closer" marathon, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., TNT. Here are 12 straight hours of a terrific show. Kyra Sedgwick plays a police detective who hides her razor-sharp mind under a soft, sweet surface.

"Road to the Super Bowl" (7 a.m.), "Inside the Rings" (8 a.m.) and "Tough Guys Super Bowl Edition" (8:30 a.m.), Fox. The first hour is by NFL Films. Then Aikman and Howie Long each get a half-hour special.

Super Bowl pre-game show, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Fox. Expect lots of football talk, plus more. Ryan Seacrest interviews celebrities at the game. Somewhere in here, Fox says it will show a video of Paula Abdul's single, produced by Randy Jackson.

"Puppy Bowl IV," 1 p.m., Animal Planet; reruns throughout the day. Really, it's a marathon of cute little dogs.

"Ice Age" (2002), 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. and "Robots" (2005), 6 p.m., FX. Kids get animated fun while their elders obsess.

"In Treatment," 4:30-7 p.m., HBO. Here's a second chance to see the first week of this smartly crafted series. A therapist (Gabriel Byrne) has three one-on-one sessions. Then he deals with a sniping couple at 8 and his own mentor at 8:30. There's great work from Melissa George, Blair Underwood, Mia Wasikowska, Josh Charles, Embeth Davidtz, Dianne Wiest and Byrne.

"The Biggest Loser," 6-10 p.m., NBC. The two most recent rounds of this weight-loss show are rerun back-to-back.

"Meet the Fokkers" (2004), 8 p.m., ABC. Some of our greatest talents — Dustin Hoffman, Robert De Niro, Barbra Streisand — are wasted in this "Meet the Parents" sequel.

"The Wire," 8:30 p.m., HBO. McNulty continues his mad scheme to boost police funding by faking a serial killer. Now a dishonest reporter might help. It's a good episode that ends with a fierce gun battle.

"House," 7 p.m., Fox. Mira Sorvino plays a psychiatrist who becomes gravely ill in Antarctica. Dr. House must diagnose her by Web-cam.
