Hawaii Judiciary offers free seminar on small claims

Advertiser Staff

The Hawai`i State Judiciary is sponsoring a free session on the topic of "Small Claims" at noon Feb. 20 in the Supreme Court conference room, 417 S. King St. in downtown Honolulu.

The program can help individuals involved in disputes where the total amount of the claim does not exceed $3,500.

First Circuit District Court Judge Christopher McKenzie will explain the process of filing a small claims case and describe what happens when parties go to court.

Before being appointed in 2002, McKenzie was a per diem judge for District Family Court of the First Circuit and in private practice. A Punahou graduate, McKenzie received his law degree from the University of San Francisco.

This "Lunch 'n' Learn the Law" program is part of a series of free informational seminars for the general public featuring topics relating to specific areas of the law and courts. Volunteer presenters include judges, attorneys, court officials and other subject-matter experts.
