Experience in politics does not ensure a successful presidency. More than someone with years of expertise, America needs a candidate who will serve as a catalyst for change and inspiration for an apathetic nation.

Sen. Barack Obama is the one.

Sens. Hillary Clinton and John McCain both have decades of experience in politics. Undoubtedly, they would have a fairly good understanding of how to set things into motion in Washington early on.

Already, both have plans detailing how they would fix some of America's looming problems, including healthcare and the economy. Their selling point is change, backed up by the knowledge needed to get things done.

But Obama has promised change, too, and his aweinspiring speeches coupled with his colorful life history promise change unhindered by political mud. That's a tantalizing notion in an age in which pork-barrel spending and special-interest campaigning run rampant.

His relative lack of experience could result in him being far more receptive than his opponents to differing opinions and compromise. He could bring new ideas to a dull establishment.

Obama promises change that hails back to the American dream: that this is a country where anyone can achieve anything if they set their mind to it, and that you don't have to be in politics for 20 years to become president and remake the world.

Already, he has spurred the young to take on a role in politics. Already, some of the jaded have begun to see him as the bringer of hope. Already millions are looking at him as the man who can restore America's faith in their government.

He may be a gamble, but I believe in his potential for change enough to give him my vote.
