TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE
"Prison Break" season finale, 7 p.m., Fox. Last week, Michael escaped from the Panamanian prison while leaving three nasty inmates behind. Now he must get Linc's son back by handing over Whistler — who ran away. Can Michael catch him and make the exchange without getting caught or killed? As usual, this hour includes brutality and extreme good fortune. Still, there are great twists involving prison life. Tautly acted and directed, this hour brings a smidgen of closure while setting up next season.
OF NOTE
"Dance War" finale, 7 p.m., ABC. We'll learn which team has won. Also, ABC will reveal the next "Dancing With the Stars" contestants.
"The Godfather" (1972, AMC) 6 p.m. or "Gone With the Wind" (1939, Turner Classic Movies), 3 p.m. Take your pick here, with classic epics.
"American Experience: Kit Carson," 9 p.m., PBS. Kit Carson's life was filled with contrasts. Cheap novels — which the illiterate Carson rarely saw — depicted him as a towering Indian fighter. In truth, he was a short, tough man who learned several native languages and tried to make peace. In his final years, however, he followed orders and led a horrific campaign, destroying crops, villages and lives. It's a fascinating story.
"My Dad is Better Than Your Dad" debut, 8 p.m., NBC. Mark Burnett, the "Survivor" producer, has been focusing on family-friendly quiz and reality shows. He has one on Fox ("Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?") and another coming Friday to NBC ("Amnesia"). In this one, hosted by Dan Cortese, dads and their kids try various challenges.
"In Treatment," 7:30 p.m., HBO. Paul seems troubled by the affair between two of his patients, Laura and Alex. Over the next two days, he'll hear contrasting accounts; tonight is Laura's turn, in a superb performance by Melissa George.
"Medium," 9 p.m., NBC. Here's an extreme in empathy: When a deaf girl is kidnapped, Allison loses her hearing. This is a new episode directed by David Arquette, the movie star who is the brother of "Medium" star Patricia Arquette.
"October Road," 9:01 p.m., ABC. In an episode originally scheduled for last week, Nick learns he's broke.
