Advertiser Staff

Surf is on the way down on the north and west shores of O'ahu, according to the National Weather Service.

Surf on the north-facing shores is expected to decrease to about 4 feet to 8 feet today, while the west-facing shores will likely see surf of 3 feet to 6 feet, forecasters said.

Surf along east-facing shores will be increasing to 2 feet to 4 feet today, while surf along south-facing shores will be 2 feet to 3 feet.

The moderate northwest swell will gradually subside through the weekend. A much larger northwest swell, possibly near warning levels, will build on Monday, peak on Tuesday, then lower on Wednesday, followed by another large northwest swell Wednesday and Thursday. An out-of-season south swell will build late Saturday, possibly reaching advisory levels Sunday and Monday, then slowly lowering through Tuesday
