COLCHESTER, Vt. — Bentley set an NCAA Division II record with its 53rd consecutive regular-season victory, an 85-65 win over St. Michael's today.
Tom Dowling had 17 points and 12 rebounds for the Falcons, who broke a 63-year-old record set by Langston University of Oklahoma in 1945.
Bentley (26-0, 21-0 Northeast 10), the top-ranked team in Division II, has not lost a regular-season game since falling 88-78 to Bryant in double overtime on Feb. 18, 2006.
The Falcons held a 50-45 lead with 13:42 to play, but put the game away with a 13-0 run while holding St. Michael's (7-18, 5-16) without a point for more than 4 minutes.
Yusuf Abdul-Ali had 16 points and Jason Westrol added 11 for Bentley.
James Sorrentine hit six 3-pointers and finished with 23 points for St. Michael's.
