FORT MYERS, Fla. — Terry Francona has agreed to a contract extension through 2011 after leading the Boston Red Sox to two World Series championships in his four seasons as manager.
The deal announced today includes club options for 2012 and 2013.
Francona guided Boston to World Series sweeps of the St. Louis Cardinals in 2004 and the Colorado Rockies last year. He succeeded the fired Grady Little when he signed a three-year contract on Dec. 4, 2003. He later received a two-year extension through the 2008 season.
