Associated Press

SPOKANE, Wash. — Crystl Bustos hit two of the U.S. Olympic softball team's seven home runs as the national squad blanked the Spokane All-Stars 31-0 last night.

"We were seeing the ball well," Bustos said. "We had a really intense week of training — double practices, weights and optional hitting off live pitching."

She got things going with a three-run homer to center field in the first inning. With the Olympians leading 5-0 in the fourth inning, No. 2 hitter Caitlin Lowe slugged an inside-the-park homer into the right-field corner and Bustos added a two-run homer. By inning's end, the Olympic team had scored six more runs to lead 11-0.

The Olympians also had a six-run seventh in which Stacey Nuveman and Andrea Duran hit back-to-back home runs.

During an 11-run eighth inning, Jessica Mendoza homered and Natasha Watley hit a grand slam.

Pitcher Cat Osterman pitched a three-hit shutout and struck out 21.
