Former Hawaii high school state champion Chan Kim was eliminated today from the U.S. Amateur Public Links championship in Aurora, Colo.

Kim, a former Kaimuki High School student who now resides in Chandler, Ariz., was beaten 3-and-2 by Andrew Paulson of White Bear Lake, Minn.

Kim was the only one of five Hawaii golfers to advance to match-play competition. A field of 155 players were reduced to the top 64 players following two rounds of stroke play.

Both golfers were all-square after nine holes before Kim went 1-up on the 10th with a par. A bogey on the 11th put the match at all-square again.

Paulson then won holes 13-15 to go 3-up. Both golfers parred the 16th, giving Paulson the victory.
