NBA: 2 Blazers named to USA Select Team

Portland rookie Jerryd Bayless, along with fellow Trail Blazer LaMarcus Aldridge, were selected to train with USA Men's Senior National Team in Las Vegas.
The USA Select Team is composed of top young NBA players and it will be utilized to help prepare the 2008 USA Men's Senior National Team for the Beijing Olympis.
The select squad is expected to train and scrimmage against the USA Senior National Team from July 21-24.
Bayless, the No. 11 draft choice in the 2008 NBA Draft, became the 13th player to be named to the 2008 USA Basketball Select Team, USA Basketball announced yesterday.
Bayless, who was traded to Portland after being selected by Indiana in the 2008 Draft, has had a spectacular showing in the 2008 NBA Summer League. Playing in four games, Bayless averaged a Summer League best 29.8 ppg. on 48.5 percent shooting, and also posted 4.8 rebounds per game.
As an Arizona freshman point guard, Bayless led the Wildcats in scoring averaging 19.7 points per game.
Bayless has prior USA Basketball experience. He scored 15 points for the USA Basketball Junior National Select Team that defeated the World Select Team at the 2007 Nike Hoop Summit in Memphis, Tenn. He also averaged 11.0 points and 4.3 rebounds on the gold-medal winning USA Team at the 2006 FIBA Americas U18 Championship for Men in San Antonio, Texas.
