Former Big Island resident Kimberly Kim beat Stacy Kim of Yorba Linda, Calif., 5 and 4, yesterday to advance to the second round of match play at the rain-plagued U.S. Girls' Junior Championship at Hartford, Conn.
'Aiea's Anna Jang lost to Madison Pressel of Boca Raton, Fla., 1 up, before play was suspended for the third time.
One remaining first-round match, and the second and third rounds are scheduled to be played today at the Hartford Golf Club.
"I like the rain," Kim said. "It's better than the heat. I wanted it to rain all day, but I didn't want delays."
KEILEY, KOMOTO OUSTED
Maui's Justin Keiley and Honolulu's Brett Komoto were eliminated yesterday in the first round of match play at the U.S. Boys' Junior Amateur in Shoal Creek, Ala.
Keiley lost to Wilson Day of Raleigh, N.C., 2 up, and Komoto fell to Phillip Choi of Orlando, Fla, 2 up.
FINK IN TIE FOR SECOND
Kailua's David Fink shot a 3-under-par 69 to share second and Honolulu's Lorens Chan shot a 74 to tie for sixth after the second round of the Old Second Bank Junior Championship yesterday at Aurora, Ill.
Brenden Beeg of Littleton, Colo., shot a 69—141 and leads Fink and three others by a stroke going into today's final round at the Aurora Country Club.

HAWAI'I REPRESENTED
Five Hawai'i athletes will compete in the national finals of the U.S. Jr. Olympic Skills event today through Sunday in Chicago.
Hau'ula's Kamaile Aluli (age 8-9, soccer), Wai'anae's Felicianna Vazquez (age 12-13, track and field) and La'ie's Savanna Christensen (age 8-9, basketball, tennis), Rachel Christensen (age 12-13, tennis) and Zachary Frampton (age 12-13, tennis) are among 72 athletes ages 8-13 who will compete in four sports — basketball, soccer, tennis and track & field — in the official youth skills competition of the United States Olympic Committee.
The athletes qualified by winning their age and gender category at one of 150 regional events, stemming from 7,500 local qualifying events across the country.

RAINDROP LEADING
Raindrop, a doublehanded Cascade 36 from Portland, Ore., was the overall fleet leader yesterday in the 15th biennial Pacific Cup Yacht Race from San Francisco Bay to Kane'ohe Bay.
Raindrop, skippered by Joby Easton with Bill Huseby as crew, also leads the doublehanded division of the 2,070- mile race.
