A man died after being pulled from the ocean off Waikiki today, officials said.

Lifeguards said the man was found unconscious in the water fronting the Royal Hawaiian Hotel about 2 p.m. He was brought to shore, given CPR, and taken to Straub Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The man was described as between 40 and 50 years old. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of his death.
