Applications for funding will be available beginning Monday for Leeward O'ahu community groups that are doing area improvement projects.

This will be the third year the city Department of Community Services will provide a total of $1 million to help finance projects by nonprofit organizations, part of the city's effort to offset the impact of the Waimanalo Gulch Landfill in Nanakuli.

Application forms will be available at Kapolei Hale, Room 204, and the Wai'anae Community Center, Room 6; or at www.honolulu.gov/dcs/specialprojects/.
