Red Cross responds to house fire on Big Island

American Red Cross volunteers responded early this morning to a residential fire in Pahoa on the Big Island.
Firefighters received the first call at 2:22 a.m. and were at 15-1515 Apaa Street 15 minutes later.
The fire at the single-story residence was confined to one bedroom and hallway. It was deemed under control at 2:47 a.m. and extinguished by 2:50 a.m.
Firefighters said the fire caused about $30,000 damage.
The Red Cross provided emergency assistance for clothing and bedding.
