Get ready to grind at Flavors of Honolulu, above, featuring fare from Bali by the Sea, Ichiriki, India Cafe, the new much-buzzed-about Cream Pot and other eateries. There's also a Jazz & Wine Tent, Celebrity Cook-Off, Flavorsland for the keiki and entertainment for the family. The event is a benefit for the nonprofit organization Abilities Unlimited.

The Seattle-based hip-hop duo Blue Scholars is coming to the Islands, showcasing its Pacific Northwest beats and rhymes. Blue Scholars — DJ Sabzi and one-time Hawai'i resident MC Geologic — recently released its fifth album, titled "Butter & Gun$." Local hip-hop acts The Soul Pacific, Kavet the Catalyst and DJ Bumblebee are set to open for the group. For 21 and older.

Got a case of the summertime blues? Treat it at Anna Bannana's, which hosts the Oahu Summer Blues Bash. The bash will be catered by Kevin's Two Boots and features five hours of blues by James Ronstadt & the Dynamic Shuffle Kings, Bluzilla, LoveChile, Friends of Adam and the Whaley Boys. It's for all ages.

CELEBRATION: JULY 4
Celebrate Independence Day with some classic all-American hot rods, hot dogs and good ol' apple pie at the first Hot Rod Picnic & Parade, below. Ten classes, from motorcycles and trucks to hot rods and muscle cars, compete for People's Choice votes. There will be manufacturers and vendors from the Mainland and Hawai'i, keiki activities and music.

The beginning of July marks another historic anniversary in America — the Battle of Gettysburg. To commemorate the biggest battle ever fought on U.S. soil, the Hawai'i Historic Arms Association presents the 12th annual Battle of Gettysburg Civil War Memorial Shoot, featuring reenactors dressed in Civil War uniform and firing antique muskets and percussion revolvers. And attendees can learn about Hawaiian and Asian soldiers, and taste homestyle food of the era.

Halau from Japan and Hawai'i come together to celebrate all things hula at the seventh annual Hula Ho'olauna Aloha, below. The event kicks off with an exhibition of solo, group wahine, group kupuna and keiki hula, as well as musical performances by Pomaikai Keawe Lyman, Mahela Sai and Pilioha. The festival's hula competition will be held the next day: Japanese halau will compete and be judged by some of the Islands' top kumu hula.

Booming beats and a whole lotta love take over Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park at the 10th annual Summer Island Massive Love Festival, above, with three stages and more than 20 DJs from Orlando, New York City, Los Angeles and Hawai'i. There will also be giveaways and full bars open for the 21-and-older crowd.

Maunalua, which just won the Hoku Award for group of the year, takes the stage for a concert under the stars in the second installment of Bishop Museum's Moonlight Mele Concert series. Opening for Maunalua is falsetto singer Darren Benitez. Bring a beach mat and stake your place on the Great Lawn for a family-friendly concert presented by Bank of Hawaii and Bishop Museum.
