Hawaii celebrity chef Sam Choy is closing his flagship restaurant.
Rising business costs have forced the restaurant to shutter its upscale location on Kapahulu Avenue and relocate employees and some menu items to the more casual restaurant on Nimitz Highway.
Choy says the Diamond Head location had a great run over the last 13 years, but it will close today.
The remaining Sam Choy's restaurant location is larger, with seating for 550 customers and jobs for 125 workers. About 25 employees from the closing location will be offered jobs at the Nimitz restaurant.
Choy says he plans to renovate the new location this fall and introduce a new dinner menu including some of his most popular Hawaiian regional cuisine
